The road descending into the Megalong Valley

The descent

Few roads in the Blue Mountains are as rewarding to drive as the descent into the Megalong Valley. Flowing through dense eucalypt forest and framed by towering sandstone escarpments, the road winds effortlessly towards the valley floor. The combination of sweeping bends, lush greenery and ever-changing scenery makes this one of those rare roads where the drive is every bit as memorable as the destination.

Scones at the Megalong Valley Tea Rooms

No visit to the Megalong Valley is complete without a stop at the historic Megalong Valley Tea Rooms. Established in 1956, they’re famous throughout the Blue Mountains for their homemade scones, fresh jam and cream, as well as their traditional apple pie. Set amongst the peaceful farmland beneath the towering escarpment, it’s the perfect place to unwind after one of the region’s most scenic drives. We’ll arrive at around 1:00 pm, leaving plenty of time to enjoy the experience.
